The Corey Carter Connection The Corey Carter Connection

Cool Summer Party Idea Posted July 10, 2010 by Corey Carter

Here is the summer party I was talking on the air about on Saturday evening:

Here are the details:
Gather friends, bring a digital camera and two bucks per person.  Everyone will place a location in the hat. Next, teams of two will draw for locales.

Will you get Jay Cooke State Park? When's the last time you've been to the Miller Creek in Lincoln Park? Ever spent time down by the Port Terminal? Keep your location secret, and then your work begins. Go to your locations and spend a few hours taking pictures. The point is to be creative.

Compile what you think are your best 10-15 shots Re-gather 3-4 hours later to share images with all. Put up a big “screen” to project them on.

The best part will be seeing all the creative shots people come up with, but there's a bonus:  teams will submit one “best shot” for competition.  All participants will vote for their favorite shot and cash prizes will be awarded to the first, second, and third place teams.

Musical Things To Look Forward To Posted June 29, 2010 by Corey Carter

August 31st - New Goo Goo Dolls Album available:  "Something for the Rest of Us"  (Listen to the Bridge - we're playing the first single "Home"!)

FINALLY! New Maroon 5 Single Posted June 23, 2010 by Corey Carter

I've been waiting forever to hear the NEW Maroon 5 single, as their new album won't be out until September 21st, but listen below for the first single:  "Misery"

Pretty pop-sounding and catchy, which is what I'd expect from Maroon 5.  Take a listen and tell me what you think by clicking on "Comments" below...

Nellie Is Back!!!! Posted June 21, 2010 by Corey Carter

Growing up in the 1980's and having a sister 6 years older than I was, I was forced to watch many episodes of Little House on the Prarie - and yes, I'm man enough to admit it.  Remember "Nellie" - the blonde "thorn in the side" of Laura...she had the blonde curls...and I actually had a crush on her.  In fact, she was probably my first celebrity crush...either her, "Jo" from The Facts of Life or Princess Leia from Star Wars...

Anyway, here is an article from the New York Daily News that I thought was interesting:

You would expect a kid on "Little House on the Prairie" to have a sheltered childhood, but that was not the case for Alison Arngrim.

The actress who played mischievous brat Nellie, the thorn in sweet Laura Ingalls?a>?? side, has revealed in her new memoir that she was abused by one of her family members.

In "Confessions of a Prairie Bi---: How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated," Arngrim reveals that her "Little House" alter ego helped her overcome the sexual and physical abuse.

"She got me out of my house when I thought there was no escape," Arngrim writes. "She transformed me from a shy, abused little girl afraid of her own shadow to the in-your-face, outspoken, politically active, big-mouthed bi--- I am today."

Though Arngrim played Nellie from the age of 11 in 1974 until 1981, she is still confused with her bratty alter ego today.

"I've been spat upon, beaten and pelted with garbage at a Christmas parade. I was beaten up at a personal appearance," she told Ann Curry on The Today Show. "To be 11 or 12 and have everyone call you a bitch to your face every day of your life is very strange."

On the ABC show, Arngrim also revealed that co-star Michael Landon, who played pater familias Charles Ingalls on the show, was no country bumpkin.

"He was a really Hollywood producer-director type," she said. "He smoked, he drank, he told dirty jokes."

But Landon wasn't the only actor who didn't reflect his character completely. Arngrim told Curry that despite the fact that she tortured Laura Ingalls on the show, she was best friends with actress Melissa Gilbert.

"Confessions of a Prairie Bi---" is out now.

Rob Thomas LOVES Animals Posted June 10, 2010 by Corey Carter

I'd never heard of "Oreo's Law" until I read Rob Thomas' Twitter today.

It basically protects animals that have been abused and in-turn become aggressive from being euthanized.

Here is a picture of the poor abused dog "Oreo" from New York in which the law is named:

Since you're here, check out this really cool version of Train's "Hey Soul Sister" as done by lead singer Pat Monahan to popeater.com a few months back.  Gotta love a good ukulele!
