The Hayward and Cable area of northwestern Wisconsin will host more than ten thousand skiers and 15 thousand spectators this weekend for the 37th Annual Birkebeiner and other associated races. The event draws top skiers from around the world as well as recreational skiers. The main race begins Saturday morning from the Cable Union Airport and finishes on Hayward's Main Street, which has be covered with snow for the occasion. The course itself is in excellent shape this year with a ten to 15 inch snow base.
